Western Wisconsin Restaurant Home to World’s Only Heated Sand Volleyball Dome
A restaurant in a western Wisconsin town, Chippewa Falls, is home to the world's only heated sand dome, or so they say on their website, I can't officially confirm or deny but we'll give them benefit of the doubt! Sand volleyball can usually only be played when it's warmer out and there's no snow on the ground, but not at Loopy's Grill & Saloon! Thanks to their sand volleyball courts under a nice, heated dome, year-round sand volleyball is possible.
There are three courts under the dome and it sounds like in the summertime the dome comes off so you can play outside next to the Chippewa River. According to Loopy's website, there's also a full-service tiki bar and in the summer a fire pit to enjoy between games.
I'm tempted to drive the 2 hours to Chippewa Falls just because I want to experience the dome! It's such a smart idea to have sand volleyball courts under a heated dome for the winter. Places around here should do that too.
On top of offering the unique opportunity to play sand volleyball under a heated dome, Loopy's also has a restaurant that people love, you can host a banquet or wedding there, and they also offer river rentals, since they're right on the Chippewa River. The river rentals include tubes, kayaks, and canoes.
