If you know someone who added to their family in 2018, chances are good they might have named their little bundle of joy one of these two names.

The folks at the U.S. Census just released the most popular baby names for the year 2018 according to Social Security records yesterday, and here in Minnesota, Henry topped the list for boy's name last year while Evelyn grabbed the top spots for girls names.

We've always been a little independent here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and these names reflect that spirit because while being number-one here, Henry didn't even land in the national top ten baby names for boys last year-- Liam took the top spot there. There were 379 Henrys born here in Minnesota last year, followed by Oliver, William, Liam, Theodore, Benjamin, Jack, Owen, James, and Noah.

Meanwhile, there were 314 baby girls named Evelyn in 2018 to take the top spot on the list, followed by Olivia, Charlotte, Emma, Harper, Amelia, Ava, Nora, Sophia, and Hazel. Olivia and Evelyn switched places from last year when Olivia topped the list and Evelyn came in at number two.
