Target is increasing its minimum wage from $12 an hour to $13 an hour. This increase in pay will take effect in June and is part of Target's plan to slowly increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by the end of 2020.

This is the third time in 2 years that Target has increased its minimum pay. They announced in 2017 their plan to reach $15/hour by the end of 2020 and have slowly been increasing pay rates since.

KARE 11 writes that once Target started increasing their minimum wage they started "seeing a bigger and better pool of candidates." Bring Me the News reports that because of the pay increase Target was able to recruit their "120,000 seasonal workers well ahead of schedule before the holiday season."

Target's competitors have been raising their minimum wages too. In November 2018 Amazon started paying employees a minimum wage of $15/hour. Walmart increased its minimum wage to $11/hour in January 2018.
