It started out looking like a playoff game in Waterville on Thursday as the Cardinals and Buccaneers went scoreless until the 3rd Inning. Nicole Menard lead off the Cardinal 3rd with a double, Tess Glenzinsk got a walk and the Cards went on to put 4 on the board. WEM answered with a run in the bottom of the 3rd.
The Cardinals knew that even though Southland only had 6 wins on the season coming into the playoff game Thursday night at Van Orsow Auditorium, that it was not going to be an easy game.
The first time around the Cardinals lost by 31 to NRHEG at Van Orsow. Injury was a problem at the time for B.A. Friday night it was a better game. It seemed almost like a playoff atmosphere as the Cardinals tried really hard but came up short. The Cardinals for the most part did not play like a 14-11 team.
As Gordy Kosfeld you Monday, Franz Boelter, longtime volleyball head coach at Bethlehem Academy in Faribault was fired on Friday, based upon accusations by some students of 'stories of mental abuse.' He has been at the school for 25 years and has a record of over 700 wins. He was also the Varsity Boys Basketball coach with 613 victories.
Thursday night the Bethlehem Academy Cardinal boys basketball team managed to come back against the tough Goodhue Wildcats. Friday night as they were down against the Buccaneers, they tried really hard but could not get ahead this time.
