The November general election is still over a month away but a special election has already been ordered in Minnesota's Second Congressional District, which includes portions of southeastern Minnesota.
Northfield Mayor Rhonda Pownell had the most votes of three individuals on the primary ballot with 2,489. David Ludescher will be her opponent in November after receiving 822 primary votes.
While over 400,000 Minnesotans have already cast absentee ballots, many voters will be reporting to the polls today to participate in the state's primary election.
