I can't remember a year, in my lifetime, with so much bad news. Now this stinking virus is messing with beer. That's going too far.

It seems a worker at Surly has tested positive for COVID-19, so as a result, Surly has announced that they will temporarily close their beer hall.

"We’re continuing to roll with the challenges of each day. We know you’re all going through this too. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate the uncertainty and keep our people safe," the beer hall wrote.

All guests and employees that may have come in contact with the infected employee have been notified. The brewing operation will continue for the time being.

Recently workers have organized a union because of safety concerns due to pandemic. An agreement was reached between the newly formed union and Surly states that the union will be recognized by the business and allow elections to take place.  However, the shutdown may affect any elections, according to a statement released yesterday (Sunday).

During the pandemic, the brewery has been having financial issues. Management says that sales are down about 82%. November 2nd, the the brewery is scheduled to close indefinitely due to the financial issues.

So, I guess, if you want to stock up on your Surly, better get on it once this most recent shutdown is over, if ever.
