Storm Warnings Continue, Winter Weather Advisory Added
Winter Storm and Ice Storm Warnings remain in effect across southern Minnesota through 3:00 pm today. A Winter Weather Advisory will replace the warnings through 6:00 pm Wednesday.
Area highways are slippery, with slush, snow, and ice contributing to driving difficulties. MnDOT says travel is not advised in the far southwest portion of the state.
A wintry mix of rain, sleet, and ice across southern Minnesota will continue today. Some locations may see over a quarter of an inch of ice, and an Ice Storm Warning is in effect.
The warnings will end later this evening, and transition to a Winter Weather Advisory as steady snow develops tonight and continue through Wednesday. Most locations can expect an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow.
From the National Weather Service: A brief lull in the precipitation occurs later this afternoon and evening after the heavy band of snow moves through. Steady light to moderate snow then redevelops tonight and continues through Wednesday, resulting in an additional 2-4 inches of snow.
