Southern MN Football Rivalry to Renew in 2021

The high school football season this fall includes the renewal of the rivalry between Blooming Prairie and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva. The schools haven't played each other since 2014. BP moves up to Section 2AA at playoff time, joining the Panthers. The regular season game is Friday, October 15 in Blooming Prairie.

The Awesome Blossoms are on an 18-game winning streak that includes the 2019 state championship. They went 5-0 in the abbreviated 2020 season, beating Randolph for the section title. There was no state tournament last fall. NRHEG was 2-2 in the fall. The Panthers were a state tournament team in 2018.

Section 2AA includes BP, NRHEG, Medford, WEM, Blue Earth Area, LeSueur-Henderson, St. Clair and Maple River. Blooming Prairie is making the jump to Class AA in most sports for the 2021-22 school year.
