Southern Minnesota Schools Hosting Seat Belt Challenges

Two Southern Minnesota schools will be participating in the Seat Belt Challenge within the next week. The Seat Belt Challenge is occurring at these schools because of a partnership between local students, Toward Zero Deaths, and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.

On Thursday, May 2nd at 10 AM, Medford High School will participate in the challenge. Then on Tuesday, May 7th at 11:30 AM, Owatonna High School will participate.

What do you do in the Seat Belt Challenge? During the challenge, students are timed to see how quickly they can get into each seat of the car and buckle the seat belt. The point is to show that buckling your seat belt is a quick and easy safety precaution.

The team with the fastest time wins the Seat Belt Challenge trophy along with some other prizes that have been donated by Lindsay Macht Farmer's Insurance Agency.

The Students Against Destructive Decision (SADD) group will also be conducting seat belt checks before school as a part of this challenge.
