Update: Severe Thunderstorm Warning  is in effect until 6:15PM for Southwestern Dakota County in east central Minnesota...West central Goodhue County, and Northeastern Rice County.

At 532 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Webster, or 7
miles northwest of Northfield, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Half dollar size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damage to vehicles is expected.

Northfield around 545 PM CDT.
Farmington and Stanton around 600 PM CDT.
Cannon Falls around 615 PM CDT.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10PM for the following counties:

Anoka, Blue Earth, Brown, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Le Sueur, Mcleod, Nicollet, Ramsey, Rice, Scott, Sherburne, Sibley, Steele, Waseca, Washington, Watowan and Wright.

Large hail, dangerous lightning, damaging winds and flooding are a possibility with these storms and possibly tornadoes.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect from 9PM Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms are expected to develop later this evening across southeast Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. Multiple storms could move over the same location bringing a few inches of rain in just a couple of hours, which could cause rapid rises on small rivers and streams and low water crossings. Never drive through
flood waters.

Counties and cities included are, Rice, Goodhue, Waseca, Steele, Faribault, Freeborn,
Including the cities of Faribault, Red Wing, Waseca, Owatonna, Blue Earth, and Albert Lea. And in southeastern Minnesota, Wabasha, Dodge, Olmsted, Winona, Mower, Fillmore,  and Houston, Including the cities of Wabasha, Dodge Center, Rochester, Winona, Austin, Preston, Caledonia, Alma, Arcadia, and Whitehall.

1-3 inches of rainfall, possibly more, may result in flash flooding and river flooding, especially for areas across south and southeast Minnesota that received 2-5 inches last night.  Persons with outdoor interests,especially those who are camping near rivers and streams, should be weather aware through tonight.
