In a span of barely 24 hours, two men have died in separate incidents near the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota. Late Sunday, July 1 two men had an altercation at a Stadium Village bar according to the Star Tribune. The two fought a short time afterward a few blocks from the establishment, leading to the death of a 27-year-old St. Paul man.

A 20-year-old from Lakeville was briefly held in custody in connection but was released. The report indicates the suspect is cooperating with authorities. No weapon was used.

Early Tuesday, July 3 morning police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue which is near the west bank of the University campus. The injured man was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle before police arrived and died from his injuries. His name was not immediately released.
