Roosen Was Groovin’ in Wanamingo Shutout of Dodge County

Sam Roosen only allowed a bloop single in a dominant performance for the Wanamingo Jacks today.

The Jacks defeated the Dodge County Diamondbacks 4-0 in Wanamingo on a perfect summer day weather-wise.

Roosen threw 89 total pitches, 75 strikes while fanning 13 Dodge County batters.

He had just one three ball count in the complete game shutout and the Diamondbacks had just one other base runner in the game and he reached on a error.

Hayfield High School baseball Head Coach Kasey Krekling kept his team in the game scattering 8 hits while throwing 142 pitches in 8 innings, 85 strikes.

Roosen told KDHL following the game he felt very comfortable on the mound and knew he was locked in early.  The first time through the order he struck out 7 of the 9 batters.

The bloop single just got over the shortstop's head off the bat of Peter Meyer with two outs in the 4th inning.

Roosen's delivery was smooth and appeared effortless as he pounded the strike zone pitch after pitch.

In the first frame Wanamingo got a one out double by Rhett Evans but Krekling coaxed a couple ground outs to end the inning.

The Jacks Gavin Roosen was awarded a two out walk in the second inning and went to second base on a balk call before #8 batter Owen Hilke waited on a 2-2 pitch and lifted it into a large gap in left center for a RBI single.

Evans collected a one out single in the third inning followed by a Eric Swiggum single where Evans gained third base on a throwing error by the right fielder.

Alex Roosen had a single to load the bases.  Evans scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Brock Baker.  Broxton Baker was walked.  Swiggum scored on a wild pitch to put a crooked number on the board.

The Jacks added a run in the 6th inning following a one out walk of Gavin Roosen he stole second base.

With two outs during a Jake Glarner at bat Roosen scored on a passed ball.  Glarner clubbed a single but would be stranded at third base to end the threat.

The Diamondbacks travel to Twin Rivers League leading Stewartville-Racine Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. game.  Dodge County is now 4-5 in league and overall play.

Wanamingo improved to 12-4 overall, 11-3 in Twin Rivers action.  The Jacks host the PEM Bucks (Plainview-Elgin-Millville)  2:00 p.m. Sunday.  The Bucks are 4-5 overall and in league play.
