Rochester Couple Indicted on Federal Child Porn Charges
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a Rochester couple previously charged with child sex abuse in Olmsted County Court.
The federal indictment charges 29-year-old Adam Reitz with production and distribution of child pornography, while 26-year-old Shahla Thompson faces charges of production and receipt of child pornography. The charges stem from an investigation that led to the pair being charged last year with sexually abusing a boy under the age of 10. Rochester police officials described the case as "a horrible sex crime" and indicated the young boy was used in the production of pornography. It was also alleged the child was given methamphetamine.
Reitz and Thompson still face 1st and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct and child endangerment charges in Olmsted County Court where Reitz is scheduled to appear for a review hearing on Wednesday. The couple's trial on the federal charges is currently scheduled in October.
