The Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame was the topic on today's AM Minnesota program. This was started in 2008 as a way to honor individuals that have made significant contributions to agriculture in Rice County, Minnesota and nationally. The program is sponsored by the Rice County Fair, Faribault Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee along with the Nerstrand Agri Center. Art Madson from the Faribault Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee is the head of the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame.

Art asked to be a guest on AM Minnesota to spread the word about the program and ask for nominations. I am sure you know of someone that deserves to be inducted into the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame. I have nomination forms here at KDHL studios, they are available on the Rice County Fair website or Art has them at the Reliance Bank in Faribault. During the fair, a special program is held on Wednesday morning. A free breakfast is served thanks to the Rice County Farm Bureau, Rice County Pork Producers, Dakota Rice Corn and Soybean Growers and the Rice County American Dairy Association.

If you know of someone that should be honored in the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame please nominate them. In addition, committee members will help fill it out. Many times in talking to people more activities and accomplishments can be added to the nomination. Art and his committee have asked that nominations be submitted by May 2, 2016. Here is a link to the Rice County Fair web site to get a nomination form.
