Owatonna’s 26th Street to Close Next Week
Road construction season is not quite over, with the barriers and cones, the road closed signs and detours. Soon, the season will be over, until it warms up again, next spring.
According to a media release from the Steele County Highway Department, 26th St in Northern Owatonna will be closed on October 15th, from State Avenue to Cedar Avenue. The road will be detoured using Cedar Ave, North St., Hoffman Drive, and State Ave.
The Union Pacific Railroad will be replacing rail at the railroad crossing and the work is only expected to last the one day. The bump that is there now will not be improved as several weeks ago the Union Pacific Railroad changed the height on the rails, with one rail higher than the other. Steele County will be installing permanent bump signs at that crossing with an advisory speed to warn motorists.
All dates and road construction projects are subject to change based on weather or other factors.
