Friday, May 1 was a day off from distance learning at Owatonna High School. About 60 members of the OHS staff spent part of the day delivering graduation items door-to-door to the seniors. The students received their cap, gown, honor cords and yard signs. Plans for high school commencement are still being worked out.

Staff member Nancy Williams told OHS Magnet reporter Mariah Schroht, "Everyone is pretty excited to just be able to do something for our seniors and have the personal touch of delivering the cap and gowns. We all volunteered to come in and do this." Each set of teachers had about 10 students to visit.

Senior Elisa Sande told the Magnet, "I thought it was sweet and showed how much staff cared about us." Senior Kinsie Davison said, "A am sad that the school year is done, but it was cool that we can still have something special." Minnesota governor Walz announced on April 23 that distance learning would continue for the balance of the academic year.

While recording an interview for the KRFO High School Coaches Show, Owatonna teacher and boys track coach Kevin Stelter said he really enjoyed going around to see students while delivering the senior items.

OHS principal Kory Kath said of the seniors, "They deserve the spotlight for all of their hard work and dedication and we know that everyone in our community will know we honor our grads by the display of yard signs."
