Owatonna High School sports had a busy day Thursday, April 28. Teams were largely able to dodge the weather. Although it did rain and a threat of thunderstorms lingered. It was also tough to battle against a pair of No. 1 rated teams.

Huskies softball dropped a 14-5 game to top-rated Mankato West. The Scarlets jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two-and-a-half innings. The Huskies put together a five-run bottom of the third. Katelyn Bentz led off with a single. Izzy Radel doubled. Parris Hovden hit a drive to deep left-center that popped off the fielder's glove for a two-run double.

Samantha Bogen had an RBI-single. Paiton Glynn smashed a ball over the left-field fence for a two-run home run and the score was 8-5. OHS put runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings but didn't score. West (9-0, 6-0 Big Nine) plated six in the sixth for the 14-5 final.

OHS right-fielders Kendra Bogen and Mehsa Krause made several nice defensive plays. Owatonna (6-5, 5-2) travels to Rochester Mayo Tuesday. The Huskies host Mankato East for parents' night on Thursday, May 5 at Morehouse Park.
