The weather forecast for Farmfest looks very nice, with temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s. I remember years with the heat index of around 100 degrees so this will be great! However, I have a feeling it might get a little warmer in the Wick Building Farmfest Center where the forums are held. Tomorrow the first forum will begin at 10:30 and the title is "Addressing the Rural Health Care Dilemma in Minnesota." I am quite sure many farmers will have a strong opinion on health insurance costs.

Panel members include Congressman Tim Walz; Emily Piper, Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner; state Sen. Gary Dahms; Nicholas Gerhart, Chief Administrative Officer, FBL Financial Group; and Jeff Nielsen, CEO of United Farmers Cooperative. The whole health care issue really affects self-employed farmers and other small businessman with too few employees to form their own group. I have seen reports that it affects only 4-5 percent of the population in the United States. While that is a small percentage, it is a big deal if it affects you and your family!
