Roseville, MN (KROC AM News) - A shooting in a Twin Cities suburb Tuesday left a suspect dead and a police officer in the hospital.

The Roseville Police Dept. is reporting the deadly incident began around 7:30 pm when officers were called to a neighborhood to check a report of “shots fired.”

The department says the suspect “continued shooting at officers and neighboring homes.” One of the officers was shot. The department says the officer “remains hospitalized, and is receiving medical treatment for a serious gunshot injury.“

The 53-year-old suspect “was declared deceased at a nearby hospital.” The man was from Roseville.

Police haven’t said if he was hit by an officer’s bullet or shot himself.

 

MNCRIME.COM is reporting "Officers reported that the suspect was found down on the ground behind a residence shortly after 8:30 p.m. He was found with a “catastrophic” gunshot wound to the groin and lost consciousness at the scene. Officers rendered medical aid before EMS arrived and the suspect was transported to the hospital. It’s not yet clear if the suspect was struck by officers returning gunfire or if it was a self-inflicted wound."
