The Mayo Clinic has said that 364 acceptance letters were sent out to hopeful medical students by mistake.

According to Bring Me The News, the letters were sent out due to a "technical error".  After the world renowned medical center realized the mistake, they sent emails to the potential medical students withdrawing the offers and contacted them by phone.

We deeply regret having caused disappointment and stress to these applicants, and we are continuing to investigate the issue.

Each year The Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine accepts around 50 students for their program with classes starting in July. All accepted students were informed via a phone call. Mayo, who is currently still investigating the issue, issued this statement, "We are truly sorry to each of the students who were affected and are looking into the cause."
Some Applicants were not happy with what they believed to be a "scripted" apology. According to a report by KIMT, one anonymous applicant started a GoFundMe page to send 2,000 gallons of Mayonnaise to the Clinic's admissions director. It's "meant to be a joke pointing out how medical school applicants don't have any power in this process."
