The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights defeated Blooming Prairie 56-49 in the Castle at Kenyon tonight.  The free throw line proved to be the difference with the Awesome Blossoms forced to foul late and the Knights hitting clutch free throws in the final couple minutes.

Kenyon-Wanamingo finished the game 14 of 20 from the free throw line while Blooming Prairie was 7 of 14.  The Awesome Blossoms had an early lead thanks in large part to senior Drew Kittleson getting after it on the glass. Scoring put back baskets following rebounds.

Kittleson had 11 first half points to lead all players.  Late in the first half it appeared the Knights did a better job of getting more than one body on him which led to a 25-23 halftime lead for K-W.  Kittleson would finish the night with 19 points.

Junior Laden Nerison led the way for the Knights with 20 points, 9 in the first half.  He was 7 of 9 from the charity stripe.  For that effort Nerison was named our Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Game for delivering the offense his team needed.

In addition to Nerison classmate Trevor Steberg had 11 points, senior Casey Wesbur added 9.

Blooming Prairie junior Collin Jordison drained three triples and had 10 points.

The turnover totals were nearly identical with the Knights committing 14, Blooming Prairie 13.  Points off turnovers were in favor of K-W 8-5.

The Awesome Blossoms fell to 2-6.  Kenyon-Wanamingo is now 5-5.  It was the second close win of the week for the Knights who scored a 47-46 double overtime win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa at home Tuesday night.

The Awesome Blossoms travel to Faribault Bethlehem Academy Saturday for a makeup game.  Tip time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.  The game will be broadcast on KDHL, 920 AM.

Kenyon-Wanamingo has two more games out of the league next week.  At St. Peter Monday, at Chatfield Thursday.
