Icy Conditions in Minnesota Possible Factor in 2 Fatal Crashes
Lino Lakes, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released information about one of the deadly crashes that occurred while many Minnesota roadways were coated with ice on Saturday.
Officials say 82-year-old Charles Quernemoen was killed when the pickup he was driving slid off southbound I-35E in Lino Lakes and rolled in the ditch. The elderly East Bethel man was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene following the 6:30 AM crash
The other fatality occurred about two hours earlier in Stearns County, where the Sheriff’s Office reported a man was killed when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a line of trees along a rural road about 10 miles northwest of St. Cloud. A spokesman says the victim, who has not been identified, was partially ejected during the crash and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
