The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA( is asking all farmers that received the 2019 Census of Horticulture Specialties and 2019 Organic Survey questionnaires to respond soon and online if possible. The Census of Horticulture is done every five years to provide a picture of United States Horticulture. The survey was mailed to 40,000 growers that reported horticulture activity in the 2017 Census of Agriculture.

"Horticulture and organic agriculture are important segments of U.S. agriculture and our economy," USDA National statistics Administrator Hubert Hamer said in news release. "When Producers respond to these surveys they are helping associations, business, and policymakers advocate for their industry, influence program decisions and educate others about the importance of these parts of agriculture."

The USDA mailed the 2019 Organic Survey to more than 22,000 U.S. producers that were certified organic or transitioning to organic production. The deadline for responding to the organic survey is January 10, 2020 and the results will be available In October 2020. The deadline for the Horticultural Survey is February 5, 2020 and results will be available in December 2020.
