Human Remains Found in SE Minnesota Park
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - An investigation is underway involving Fillmore and Mower county authorities into the discovery of human remains at a state park.
Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik says the remains were found about noon Thursday by a private party in a remote area of Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park.
The park is in Fillmore County but Sandvik’s office is involved because the remains may be those of a missing Mower County man, 35-year-old Steven Holm of LeRoy. Sandik says he was reported missing by his family Aug. 7 - one day after his car was towed from the park. Holm was last seen a week before in Mankato.
Sandvik says there was no visible sign of foul play at the scene. He hopes dental records or other evidence can lead to a positive identification of the remains.
