Slow down! The Minnesota State Patrol is adding extra enforcement on area highways for the next several months to crack down on speeding. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says 2020 was the deadliest year in Minnesota in more than five years. The DPS says they've seen an alarming spike in speeding - The Minnesota State Patrol ticketed over 1,068 drivers who were going 100+ mph 2020 which is double the amount of citations issued in 2019.

Col. Matt Langer, chief of the Minnesota State Patrol, said, “We are very frustrated and appalled by the lack of compliance to Minnesota speed limits by some drivers in our state. Traveling above the speed limit, especially more than 100 mph, is unacceptable and puts the lives of everyone around you in danger. If you speed, expect our troopers to stop you and cite you with a ticket. Our hope is that motorists heed our warning and slow down!”

Col. Langer said the State Patrol will have extra enforcement all across Minnesota looking for speeders for the next several months.
