Does Faribault have a castle? Kinda. The old Andrews Nursery property, which we posted about when it went up for sale earlier this year, is a pretty large piece of property located just outside of Faribault. The available property is hosting an open house next week, which will feature events for families to enjoy while also showcasing the available property.

The nursery open house will feature activities for the whole family to enjoy, as it's being called 'Tour the Castle in Faribault: Fall Fun For All'. So what types of activities will be going on?

Things to do at the Open House event at the Andrews Nursery property

  • Pumpkin painting
  • Disney princesses
  • Warm apple cider and Caramel apples
  • A prize drawing for those who come in costume
  • Candy giveaways

The Andrews Nursery is currently being listed at $699,999 and the property sits on just over 18 acres and has over 5,000 square feet of space. The 3 bedroom two bathroom home is just part of what a buyer would get. You can see the listing for the property here.

The history behind Andrews Nursery

The nursery, according to some online books from the 1920s indicates that it, dates back to 1872. The online book features plants that will highlight your home, many of which were grown or bred by the Andrews Nursery.

A 1959 Minnesota Nurserymen's Newsletter states that the Andrews Nursery was:

Mr. J. W. Harkness established in 1869 a nursery at Faribault. Later in 1871, it was taken over by John D. Andrews. His three sons, Jack, Howard, and Rufus Andrews, succeeded him. The nursery at the present time is managed by. sons of Jack Andrews, Kim, and Dick. It is probably not unfair to say that the Andrews Nursery has had more influence on the nursery business in Minnesota than any other nursery. Andrews Nursery has changed its mode of distribution and is presently successfully conducting a garden center business.

There is certainly quite a bit of history with the  'castle' in Faribault, you can see for yourself next week.
