Two high octane offenses took the KM Telecom Field Friday night in a very entertaining high school football game. The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets won the game 42-41.

Faribault missed a 32 year field goal as time expired to preserve the KoMets win.  I have to say from the Falcons sideline announcing box it looked like it was good.  Some of the Faribault coaches appeared to think it was good but the officials ruled the ball went right of the goalpost upright.

Senior Eduardo Solis had plenty of leg on the kick.  If the scoreboard operator was accurate the Falcons had two time outs left when the game ended.

Faribault had about 1:50 to go with all their time outs when they started the final drive at their own 31 yard line. They converted a fourth down and 8 and a couple third downs before advancing the ball closer to the end zone with successive pass interference calls against the KoMets.

Kasson-Mantorville was out of time outs when Solis came onto the field to attempt the 32 yard kick.

The two teams combined to roll up 984 yards of total offense in the game.  513 for the KoMets, 471 for the Falcons.  There were big plays after big plays literally after in this game.

In the second quarter 5 touchdowns were scored in the final 5:54, 4 in the final 3:57 of the half.

Kasson-Mantorville had the opening kickoff but could not move the ball in their first possession.  Faribault took the ball in KoMets territory thanks to an errant snap to the Kasson-Mantorville punter.

The Falcons converted a couple of third downs with four receivers on one side of the field and one receiver on their other side with only quarterback Hunter Nelson in the backfield.  This really spread the Kasson-Mantorville defense and it didn't appear they were equipped to stop it.

With the ball at the 2 yard line Hunter Nelson came under center and tried to hit a hole to his left but was stopped and fumbled the wet football.  Kasson-Mantorville recovered.  It rained very hard before the game started.

After a play was stuffed senior KoMets quarterback Matthew Donovan scored on a 88 yard touchdown with 4:24 to go in the first quarter.  The extra point kick by AJ Donovan was good.

Faribault would match the score with 92 seconds to go in the quarter when Nelson hit Johnny Frank on a 21 yard touchdown pass.  Solis connected on the point after kick to tie the game at 7.

With 5:54 to go in the first half Donovan connected with Gavin Giesler for a Kasson-Mantorville 16 yard touchdown.  The AJ Donovan kick was good and the KoMets had a very short lived 14-7 lead.

3:57 to go in the half Hunter Nelson threw a two yard scoring strike to senior Elijah Hammonds.  The point after kick was no good making the score 14-13 in favor of the KoMets.

3:39 to go in the half Anthony Moe Tucker raced 70 yards for a score.  The 215 pound back was not going to be caught after he passed the second level.  The AJ Donovan kick was good.

3:24 to go Matthias Lenway runs 85 yards for a kickoff return touchdown.  Extra point pass attempt from Nelson to Beau Schrot was no good.

With 8 seconds left in the half the Falcons extended their lead with a Hunter Nelson 13 yard strike to AJ Worrell. Two point conversion converted with a Nelson run. At the half the score was 27-21 .

Faribault got the ball to start the second half and it didn't take long to hit paydirt again.

With 11:44 to go in the third quarter Lenway motored down the KoMets sideline for a 75 yard touchdown with a Nelson pass to Elijah Hammonds giving Faribault  a 35-21 lead.

7:15 to go in the third quarter Donovan darted 24 yards for a score.  Point after kick was good.  Score is 35-28 Faribault in front.

4:55 left in the third quarter the Falcons would extend their lead on a 7 yard Lenway touchdown.  Nelson pass for the two point converstion failed to make it 41-28.

Faribault continued to move the football consistently down the field but two fumbles and two interceptions proved costly in the game.  Four Falcons turnovers to none for Kasson-Mantorville turned out to be the difference along with the KoMets converting on every extra point kick.

Kasson-Mantorville scored on a 9 yard run by Donovan with 9:35 to go in the game.  Extra point kick good.

The KoMets finished the scoring with 6:18 to go when Donovan got loose for a 73 yard dart to the end zone.  Extra point kick by AJ Donovan again was good.

Faribault finished the game with 277 yards passing, 194 rushing.  Kasson-Mantorville amassed 480 yards on the ground and 33 yard in the air.

Nelson was 20 of 28 for 277 yards, 3 scores and two picks.  Lenway rushed for 169 yards on 22 carries with two scores.

Jordan Klecker finished the night with 7 catches for 106 yards for Faribault.  Isaac Mata caught three balls for 73 yards.  Johnny Frank had 3 catches for 36 yards and a score.  AJ Worrell had 3 receptions for 34 yards and a score.

Donovan was 2 of 4 passing for 33 yards and a touchdown.  He ran 17 times for 224 yards and 4 toucdowns.  Anthony Moe-Tucker tallied 115 yards on 11 carries.

Faribault was 6 of 16 and 4 of 6 in third and fourth down conversions respectively while Kasson-Mantorville  went 2 for 11 on third down and 1 for 2 on fourth down conversions.

The Falcons dropped to 3-2 while KoMets are 4-1.

This brings back memories.

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.

This is interesting to see.

LOOK: The most famous actress born the same year as you

Many of the actresses in this story not only made a name for themselves through their collection of iconic performances, but also through the selfless, philanthropic nature with which many of them approached their stardom. In an age of flipping the script on societal norms, many of these actresses are using their voices and platforms to be advocates for those who are otherwise unheard.
