The Faribault Lakers scored two runs in the top of the 8th inning at St. Patrick today to capture a 2-1 win and remain undefeated.

Jake Petricka opened the game going 2 innings allowing a run in the first.  Tyler Francis and Nate Rost tossed 7 innings of scoreless ball to seal the win.

Nick Rost picked up the game winning hit with a 3-2 count single in the 8th inning.

Both teams had 6 hits and both teams had an error.

In the bottom of the first inning the Irish got a one out double off the bat of Jordan Goracke.  He advanced to third base on a ground out.  Zak Endres hit an RBI single to left.

In the top of the 8th inning Blake Langerud leads off and reaches base on an error.  Following a strikeout Joe Grote walks.  Langerud had advanced to second base on a wild pitch during the Grote at bat.  Nate Rost then stroked a RBI single scoring Langerud.  Grote advanced to third base.

Nate Rost stole second base.  Grote was thrown out trying to score on the play.  Nick Rost then cracked a single to right field scoring his brother.

Some Lakers fans were a bit anxious in the bottom of the ninth when St. Patrick got back to back singles with one out.  Nate Rost struck out the next two batters to slam the door on any rally.

The key for Faribault was pitchers not giving free passes.  Just one walk was allowed.

Nate Rost got the win throwing 53 pitches, 41 strikes with 6 strikeouts, no walks, 4 hits allowed in 4 innings.  Tyler Francis threw 3 innings of no hit ball with one strikeout, no walks.  He tallied 35 pitches, 27 strikes.

Petricka struck out 3 in the first 2 innings with one walk, two hits, an earned run.  He threw 28 pitches, 19 strikes.

Zach Seurer took the tough lock loss after throwing 8 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs with 5 hits, 4 walks, 11 strikeouts.  He threw 139 pitches, 86 strikes.  Nick Spitt of Morristown threw the final inning for the Irish.
