Faribault Lakers are Six Seed in League Tournament
The Faribault Lakers will have to win two extra games to get to this year's State Amateur Baseball Tournament to be played in New Prague, Shakopee and Jordan. The Lakers received the #6 seed in the upcoming Dakota, Rice, Scott (DRS) League Playoffs which begin on Tuesday.
Faribault was the defending regular season DRS League Champions. The top 4 seeds receive byes and await a week of playing by the other 8 teams. The top seed and regular season Champions are New Market. #2 seed St. Patrick, #3 seed is Union Hill and New Prague got the #4 seed.
The Lakers will have a best of three game series with Webster and open in Webster according to league information on their website. A 7:30 p.m. start for all games. The teams would play again Thursday in Faribault and if necessary Friday in Faribault.
#5 seed Montgomery hosts Lonsdale 8:00 p.m. Tuesday then goes to Lonsdale for a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday. The league information says even though Montgomery is the higher seed if they play a Friday game it's in Lonsdale at 7:30 p.m.
#7 seed Prior Lake plays Shakopee beginning Tuesday with all games at 7:30 p.m. Thursday's game is in Shakopee and the Friday game if necessary would be in Prior Lake.
#8 seed St. Benedict travels to Veseli for a 8:00 p.m. game Tuesday and the next two games are also in other ballparks event though St. Benedict is the higher seed. Thursday's game would be 8:00 p.m. in Veseli and Friday if necessary in Union Hill at 7:30 p.m.
The Region 3C Playoffs start on Sunday, July 29. If the higher seeds win their series then Faribault would play Union Hill in the Region opener.
