Faribault Foods confirmed in a news release today that two employees at the Faribault plant have reported they tested positive for COVID-19.  The employees are on paid leave of absence to self-quarantine along with other employees who had direct contact with them.

Faribaut Foods goes on to say:

"The safety of our employees and our products has always been our first priority.  Upon learning about the positive test results , the company took immediate action in accordance with our emergency response plan.  The employees directly impacted worked in one specific area and had limited close contact with others."

"However, upon learning of the positive test results, as a precautionary measure we immediately halted production and distribution activities in the facility for deep cleaning and sanitation.  While these measures fully comply with the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), we also brought in an outside cleaning service to perform an additional decontamination of all common areas. "

Production at the Faribault plant resumed today.

The statement goes on to say:

"As a food manufacturing facility we recognize our responsibility to continue to produce the very thing people need right now, nutritious food, while continuing to take every possible precaution to ensure that our employees and the food we manufacture remain safe."

"The FDA (Food and Drug Administration)  has found no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food or food packaging, and we are working directly with our regulatory contacts to ensure the continued safety of our products."

"Furthermore, the food manufactured in our facilities is safely sealed in cans and then exposed to intense heat as a sterilization step.  We continue to provide safe, wholesome, high-quality foods, especially during this time when families need recipe-ready canned foods."
