Falcon Softball Player Named Ms. Softball Finalist

Recently graduated Faribault Falcon softball pitcher McKayla Armbruster was named a finalist for the Play Ball! Minnesota and Minnesota All Sports Alliance Ms. Softball award.  Armbruster is one of seven finalists for the award.

A news release states the finalists were selected by a panel of high school and college coaches as well as professional scouts.  "Athletic and character attributes as wells as season accomplishments were considered by award voters.  The award finalists represent the finest senior players in the state."

Award winners (There's a Mr. Baseball award too) will be announced on June 23rd at a luncheon at Target Field.  The winner will be honored by the Twins by throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before a future game this season.

Other Ms. Softball finalists include: Claire Bakkestuen of Forest Lake, Holly Blaska of Champlin Park, Torri Chute of Stillwater Area, Ava Dueck of Maple Grove, Olivia Hazelbaker of Farmington and Bryanna Olson of Park.

Armbruster has every pitching record in Faribault High School softball history.  She was a three time All-State selection, five time All-Conference and All-Section selection.  A four time Gold Glove winner and four time team MVP.  She has 26 school records.  16 for her career and 10 single season records.  Armbruster's name appears in the top 10 school records lists over 60 times.

In 2018 she led the Falcons to their first State Softball Championship by striking out 37 batters while allowing just one run in three games at state.

The past two seasons Armbruster has been strikeout queen accumulating the most strikeouts in the state.

Armbruster will continue to play softball at Minnesota State Mankato where she is pursuing a degree in Communications and minor in Spanish .
