The Faribault Falcons flew past the Jackson County Central Huskies Saturday by scores of 14-4 and 11-2 with senior Austin Rendler leading the way.  Rendler had 4 RBI in the first game and 5 RBI in the other contest.  In the first game Rendler had a home run in the fourth inning and another round tripper in the sixth inning.  He had three of the Falcon 12 hits.

Juniors Joe Palmer and Andy Prange each had two hits and senior catcher Dylan O'Neil knocked in two runs.  Palmer had two hits and three walks in the five inning game.  Faribault also had six stolen bases in the game led by Palmer's two.  The Falcons scored three runs in the top of the third inning to start the scoring onslaught with Dylan Vargo connecting for a single to start the inning.  Following a line out Palmer hit a single advancing Vargo to third base.  Palmer took off for second and Vargo scored with Palmer making it safely to second base.  Senior Alex Korbel walked, senior Joe Lauwagie walked to load the bases.  Senior Dillon McEachran walked for a RBI.  Following a strike out senior Bailey Reichert hit the ball to third where an error allowed a run to score and Reichert to reach first base.

In the four run fourth inning Vargo was hit by a pitch to start and Rendler hit his first home run to left field.  Palmer then walked and advanced to second on a ground out by Korbel.  The junior left fielder went to third on another ground out.  McEachran was hit by a pitch and Prange smacked an RBI single.  After a passed ball advanced runners on the bases Reichert was walked to load them up again.  O'Neil was hit by a pitch for a RBI and a 7-0 Falcon lead.

Faribault added a run in the top of the fifth when Palmer singled with one out, followed by a misplayed ball in the outfield off the bat of Lauwagie scoring Palmer.

The Falcons collected the rest of their runs in the top of the sixth when Riechert singled with one out and scored on a O'Neil hit.  Rendler then hit his second homer to left scoring a couple runs.  Palmer was walked, Korbel singled, Lauwagie was walked to load the bags again.  The inning ended with a strikeout.

Vargo was the winning pitcher going 4 2/3 innings, scattering 5 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts.  McEachran threw the last 2 1/3 innings with 2 hits allowed, no walks and 2 strikeouts.  Vargo threw 75 pitches, 49 for strikes and McEachran had 33 pitches, 21 strikes.

The totals for the first game were:

Faribault             11 runs 12 hits 4 errors

Jackson County    2 runs  7 hits  2 errors

In the second game Rendler had 5 RBI and the Falcons ripped 12 more hits.

The game started with the Huskies scoring 4 runs in the top of the first.  The home team Falcons answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.  With one out Vargo walked, Rendler singled scoring Vargo who had advanced to second on a passed ball.  Palmer walked.  Lauwagie was safe on an error loading the bases.  Rendler scored on a ground out by junior Kipp Bonde.

Faribault took the lead in the bottom of the second when Reichert reached base on an error with one out.  Reichert stole second and a balk was called to advance him to third base.  O'Neil was walked.  Vargo walked to load the bases and Rendler hit a two run double.  Palmer smacked a single advancing Rendler to third base.  Lauwagie doubled in Palmer and Rendler.  After the second out was recorded Prage walked, junior Mitch Nelson singled to score Lauwagie and the Falcons were up 8-4.

In the bottom of the third inning O'Neil singled to right to lead off the inning.  There was a balk advancing O'Neil to second.  Vargo singled and advanced to second on the throw to home where O'Neil scored.  Vargo went to third on a passed ball.  Rendler collected a RBI on a sacrifice fly.  Palmer singled to center and was erased at second base on a fielder's choice off the bat of Lauwagie.  Bonde doubled Lauwagie home.  Prange singled to right scoring Bonde.  Faribault was up 12-4.

In the bottom of the fourth inning with one out Rendler reached on an error and advanced to third on a two out single by Lauwagie.  The Falcons pulled off a double steal again scoring Rendler and advancing Lauwagie.  Bonde singled and Lauwagie scored but Bonde was thrown out at second.

The Falcons had six more stolen bases, Lauwagie with two.

Palmer got the win while pitching the first four innings.  He scattered six hits and none of the 4 runs allowed were earned.  He walked one and struck out three batters.

Bonde pitched the last inning with one hit allowed, one walk and one strikeout.

Faribault              14 runs    12 hits    1 error

Jackson County   4 runs       7 hits     3 errors

Palmer threw 72 pitches, 42 strikes and Bonde 22 pitches, 10 strikes.
