The Cannon Falls City Council Tuesday night passed resolutions related to the construction of a new Dollar General retail store in the community.

The one story retail building will be located on the Northeast corner of 5th Street and Dakota Street West near railroad tracks.

The Conditional Use Permit requires Dollar General to place a 6 foot high privacy fence on the north side of the property.  A CUP is needed because the property is zoned Residential Business and the CUP is required for a retail business.

Owner of record for the property is Acre Real Estate Holding LLC, of Nerstrand. Listed as applicant is Dollar General LLC, Birmingham, Alabama.

Council members passed a resolution granting a variance from required front setback along north property line from required 10 feet to 3.6 feet.

They also approved a resolution to reduce the number of parking spaces from the required 39 to 30 after Dollar General reduced the size of their Cannon Falls store to 9,100 square feet from the originally proposed 10,640 square feet (which would require 48 parking spaces).
