The Owatonna dance team is ending their third season as a program on an upswing. They finished fifth at the recent Big Nine Conference meet and scored a season high at New Prague. Monday the dance team combined with Just for Kix and the UPDS dance studio to host the annual community show at Owatonna High School.

Coach Victoria Johnson said the team started the season with scores that rivaled where they ended last season, "The season has gone very well. At our first competition this year at Cannon Falls, we started off with higher score sheets then what we ended with last year. That's always fun and exciting and a big goal."

The team honored their five seniors Monday including Adrien Breuer, McKinsi Davison, Alivia Kubista, Elise Sande, and Kaitlin Korpi. Johnson said, "They are phenomenal. They will definitely be missed. They are great leaders. They are great at bonding the team. They are great at leading practice. They're organized. It will be hard to see them go." The team also thanked managers Hailey Rysavy and Zander Hammann.

Johnson is joined on the coaching staff by Nicole Brugmaier, Diane Skala, Madie Conley, and Samantha Hager. There are nearly 40 dancers on the Huskies squad.

Monday's show included the Huskies varsity jazz and dance, junior varsity jazz and kick, and the b-squad jazz teams. Just For Kix and UPDS held multiple performances, and the evening was capped by the guy/girl dance. A large crowd attended the fundraising performance.

Faribault won the Big Nine Conference championship.

Johnson believes the team can peak at sections with its highest scores of the season and is hoping for a top five finish.
