Craig Morgan turned to social media to honor his departed son, Jerry, on Tuesday (Jan. 24), which would have been his 20th birthday.

Jerry Greer died on July 10, 2016 in an accident that took place while he was tubing behind a boat on Kentucky Lake, in the next county over from his family's home in Tennessee. The 19-year-old disappeared into the water and never resurfaced. His body was recovered the next day, and his cause of death was ruled an accidental drowning.

In a post to Facebook on Tuesday, the "I'll Be Home Soon" singer shared photos of himself and his son at a Tennessee Titans game, onstage at a show together and in various other happy settings.

"Happy Birthday son," the singer wrote, adding, "because He lives we will see you again. Deuteronomy 15:10 thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God will bless the in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto."

Morgan has said very little in public about the death of his son, but he has been back on the road in the months since then. He did address his fans in a Facebook Live video in November, thanking them for their outpouring of support after the tragedy.

"I wanted to personally get on here and tell all of you thank you so much for your kind words and your support,” Morgan said. “It’s been amazing. The fans — we’ve gotten letters and emails and Facebook posts and all kinds of stuff, so we want to say thank you. This is from my family.”

He remembered his son as an “amazing young man.”

“His spirit and his attitude and his love continues on through all of us. And I don’t just mean me and my family — I mean my crew, my friends, his friends and it’s an amazing story,” Morgan added. “We continue to cherish that in the time we had with him. And I want to share that with you all.”
