The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and other authorities are investigating a police chase Thursday night that ended on Highway 52 on the Lafayette Bridge and the driver of the car jumping off the bridge to his death.

Police from South St. Paul and West St. Paul were in on the chase. at around 10:45pm. The driver turned onto Hwy. 52 northbound and continued to the bridge. Authorities tell said the driver then stopped his car, ran to the eastern railing and jumped, falling to a grassy area.

Medics tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The incident shut down hwy 52 for a few hours overnight. It is considered a critical incident due to how this chase ended.
