The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team dueled defending Gopher Conference co-champion Medford Tuesday and pulled away for a 58-41 win to improve to 8-0 in league games. BP coach John Bruns wrote in his game recap email, "We earned a hard fought win...We did a great job defensively...also did an excellent job on the offensive glass."

BP led 29-20 at halftime. Medford drew within four points "but Maggie Bruns took over and put in 12 second-half points including two big 3-pointers that got us back up to a double-figure lead. Maggie finished with a career-high 15 points," continued Bruns.

Megan Oswald led BP with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Bobbie Bruns "had an excellent floor game with 14 points and seven assists." The BP girls host United South Central Friday. The Tigers entertain NRHEG Friday.

The Blooming Prairie boys won at Medford 52-43 Tuesday. Coach Nate Piller indicated, "We're a little Jekyll and Hyde lately. We got the good version of us tonight where we stayed out of four trouble, limited our turnovers and make some shots."

BP had nice balance with Drew Kittelson (13 points), Alex Miller (11), Luke Larkoski (9) and Mitchell Fiebiger (8). "We got off to an early lead and played with confidence," stated Piller. The Awesome Blossoms go to Wells to play USC Friday.

Medford got 17 points from AJ Vandereide and 15 from Kael Hermanstorfer. The Tigers play at NRHEG Friday, February 26 in a Kat Kountry 105 FM broadcast.

Owatonna boys basketball topped Northfield Tuesday at OHS 80-61. Brayden Williams poured in 27 points. Evan Dushek added 20. The Huskies go to Mankato West Friday night at 7:30 pm on AM 1390 KRFO. West wrapped up the Big Nine title Tuesday night with a 64-45 win over Red Wing. The Scarlets edged Owatonna earlier this season. Only the first meeting counts toward the league standings this season.

Owatonna's girls hockey beat Rochester Century/JM for the third time this season, 8-0 at the Rec Center Tuesday. Olivia Herzog had two goals and two assists. Anna Herzog had two goals plus an assist. Ava Wolfe made 14 saves for her third shutout of the season. The Huskies host Mankato East Thursday.
