The Faribault Compost Site opened this afternoon to a waiting line of vehicles.  The attendant told me a line formed beginning about 12:30 p.m. for the site to open at 1:00 p.m.

With winds gusting over 30 miles an hour it was a challenge for some to unload their pickups, sports utility vehicles and cars. Not every load I saw come into the site was covered, however most loads did appear to be secured.

The compost site located at 214 14th Street Northeast is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The site is not open on holidays.

Accepted items include leaves, branches, grass clippings, brush, garden residue in compost piles.

I also swung by The Legacy Golf Course up the road from the City of Faribault Yard Waste Site.

Despite the wind the parking lot had a number of vehicles with people loading and unloading their clubs.  They were taking advantage of the opportunity to do something other than sit around their residences.
