Get ready to wheel and deal and find a treasure or two (and maybe someone's excess supply of toilet paper) during Blooming Prairie's citywide garage sale event Saturday, September 19. Becky Noble made the announcement in Friday's edition of Finally Friday from the Blooming Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce.

She stated, "The Executive Committee met on Wednesday. It was decided to go ahead with the City Wide Garage Sales on Saturday, September 19. So if you cleaned out your closets, basements, or attics lately, you might want to get in on this sale."

In other notes, A Fire Sale will be held with items that were in Sportstitch during the fire in January. The clothing has been washed and will be sold Tuesday, August 18 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the City Park Pavilion with proceeds benefiting the BP Chamber. Noble says, "If it weren't for Linda (Klemmensen) and the support she has given the chamber, this office would be closed by now. Linda has always been a great supporter of the BP Chamber of Commerce, so please remember to thank her for all she does!"

The BP Cancer Group is holding their mum sale. Contact Connie Trom for orders. The group will also have their field of flags again this fall. To honor or remember a victim of cancer contact Cheri Krejci, Colette Lea, or Jennifer Milton to purchase a flag.

Noble says the chamber picked up masks to distribute to businesses that need them for employees or customers. Give Noble a call at the chamber office. She says they will be receiving a few more shortly.

Blooming Prairie City Center, the chamber office, and the BP library are all open. Remember to wear a mask when entering any of those locations.

Blooming Prairie Public Utilities invites submissions for artwork for the new water tower. In a news release, they welcome "any local Blossom that would be interested in submitting a design of their own creation to represent the community and become the new logo on the upcoming new water tower. There is no prize offering, but the winner will have the rewarding satisfaction of having their vision or our community being enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike for decades to come."

To make a submission or inquire, call Jerry Mausbach at 507-583-6683. The deadline is October 16, 2020.

You can hear Becky Noble with the Blooming Prairie News every morning around 8:20 am on AM 1390 KRFO and on the free downloadable app.
