Big Nine Members Mankato West & Winona in State AAA Baseball

Two Big Nine Conference teams are in the MSHSL State Class AAA Baseball Tournament. Mankato West received the top seed and Winona was a random draw for #2 seed Benilde St. Margaret's.

The Scarlets (23-1) play 10:00 a.m. at Chaska Athletic Park against St. Francis (13-11).

The Fighting Saints have a #18 QRF while Mankato West is #1.

The Scarlets are scoring 8.5 runs a game and allowing 2.1.

St. Francis averages 5.6 runs and surrenders 4.6 runs per contest.

#2 seed Benilde-St. Margaret's (21-3) is QRF #2 with a 9.9 runs per game average.  The Red Knights allow 3.1.

Winona (14-10) averages 5.8 and gives up 5.3 runs each outing.

#4 seed St. Thomas Academy Cadets (19-7) QRF #4 will open the tournament with Alexandria Area Cardinals (19-6) QRF #5 at 12:30 p.m.

#3 seed Mahtomedi Zephyrs (18-4) will go up against Grand Rapids Thunderhawks (16-6) at 5:30 p.m.  The Zephyrs have #3 QRF averaging 9.1 runs while yielding 4.1 per game.

The Thunderhawks #7 QRF allow 3.8 runs while scoring 7.6 per game this season.

Semifinals for the top side of the bracket (#1 seed) are Noon Wednesday and the other side of the bracket semifinal is 2:30 p.m. at Chaska Athletic Park.

Consolation Bracket games are at Mini Met in Jordan at the same time Wednesday.

Consolation Championship is 5:00 p.m. Saturday in Jordan.  Third Place game 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Chaska Athletic Park.

The Class 3A State Championship is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Target Field on Friday, June 17, 2022.
