The Faribault Bethlehem Academy baseball team scored a thrilling 7-6 eight inning win  over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in Waterville Thursday evening.  The game was scoreless through the first four innings.

The Cardinals scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th.  The Buccaneers answered with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning.  Bethlehem Academy tied the game in the top of the 6th to make it 5-5 going into the 7th inning.

BA scored two runs in the top of the 8th and held Waterville-Elysian-Morristown to a single run in the bottom of the inning for the victory.

Bethlehem Academy had 15 hits, the Buccaneers 4 hits in the game.

JJ Malecha started on the mound for the Cardinals.  Lucas Linnemann came in to pitch the final inning and get the win.

Malecha threw 91 pitches, 56 strikes with 10 strikeouts, 6 walks, 1 hit allowed, 4 runs, 2 earned in 4 and 2/3 innings.  Aiden Tobin threw 2 and 1/3 with 2 hits allowed, 1 unearned run, 3 strikeouts, 4 walks.  Linnemann gave up an earned run, 1 hit with no walks or strikeouts.

Four Cardinals had multiple hits in the game led by Linnemann with 4 hits.  Tobin tallied 3 along with Malecha.  Bo Dienst added 2 hits.  Malecha and Dienst had doubles.  Tibin a triple.

Colton Henry was the starting pitcher for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown going the first 5 and 2/3 innings.   Henry fanned 10 batters, walked 2 and allowed 10 hits. Senior Dylan Ahlman went to the hill for the final 2 and 1/3 innings with 5 hits allowed and 2 earned runs.  He walked 1 and struck out a batter.

Henry threw 104 pitches, 61 for strikes.  Ahlman had 40 pitches with 27 strikes.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown left 11 runners on base, Bethlehem Academy 10.

The Bucs and Cards are each 1-2 on the season.

W-E-M hosts New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Monday at 4:30 p.m.

BA sees Hayfield come to Bell Field in Faribault.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
