The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that the spring load limit restrictions in the south and south central frost zones will end Monday April 26, 2021 at 12:01 AM. Spring load restrictions in the Metro and Southeast frost zones but remain in effect in the North and Northcentral frost zones. Full overweight summer permits will start in the Metro and Southeast frost zones on Monday April 26, 2021 at 12:01 AM.

This is good news for truckers, and construction crews that need to transport heavy loads and equipment. This is really good news for livestock producers that many times have livestock buildings on 7 or even 5 ton axel weight township roads. Spring load restrictions mean lighter loads and more trips hauling feed to isolated barns and hauling the livestock to processing plants.

I believe most counties and townships follow the lead of the Minnesota Department of Transportation with spring load restrictions. However, maybe not always so be sure to check with your local load restrictions too. I have heard overweight fines can be severe especially during the spring restrictions!
