Again this year the Rice County Steam and Gas Engine Club will be hosting the Armed Forces Day Military Weekend at their showgrounds 3 miles south of Northfield on Highway 3. The gates are open this Saturday form 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Sunday. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 with a non-perishable food item, kids ages 7 to 12 is $6, kids under 7 years old are free. Plus, all world War II Veterans are Free.

At the Armed Forces Military Weekend there will be all types of military vehicles including guns, artillery pieces, a Sherman Tank, and if weather permits a Vietnam war helicopter a UH-1 Huey will fly in. In addition there will be Reenactors representing World War II, and Civil Was Battles, a Military Swap meet, Authors and Veterans.

You can learn a lot about our Military History by reading and watching the History Channel on TV. However, here you will be able to see the Military equipment up close, sit in the vehicles and talk to Veterans that actually used and defended out Country with the equipment!
