The Faribault Lakers were down 8-0 after five innings and I have to admit even though I didn't say it on the airwaves, I was thinking they were probably going to see their season come to an end Sunday afternoon.  I talked to a number of Laker fans who admitted they felt the same way.  The guys in the Faribault dugout however didn't have those feelings and that's why they came back yet again with the key blow another three run homer in the 8th inning.  Saturday night it was Adam Jensen's big blow in the 8th and Sunday afternoon Ryan Archambault clubbed a no doubter to bring the Lakers to within two runs heading into the final inning.  Danny Pierce came off the bench to deliver a two strike single to lead off the 9th, Evan Jenson also came off the bench and stroked a hit.  Following a pop out by Blake Langerud for the first out Jack Helgeson smacked his 4th hit of the day to knock in Pierce and it was 8-7.  Grote hit the ball to third and the third baseman tagged out Adam Kline on his way to third after running for himself with Jenson hitting for him and Faribault was down to their last out of the season.  Matt Lane strode to the plate and on a 1-0 count clubbed a triple to the opposite field to knock in the tying and go ahead run and send the game to the bottom of the 9th. Draftee Rick Bell from Union Hill retired the side in the ninth for his fourth scoreless inning of relief to secure the win and the comeback kids, the cardiac cadets, the drama kings from Faribault did it again.  A come from behind win.  This one was even more incredible than Saturday night because they were down by a snowman.  Yep, 8 runs.  The game a perfect example of why I love baseball.  You can't stall or milk clock cause there isn't any.  You have to record 27 outs to win in 9 innings, period!  Faribault heads back to Jordan to finish their semi-final game with Sobieski after the game was called due to a storm.  The Lakers are up 1-0, but the Skis have runners at first and second with one out in the bottom of the third.  Faribault's run came in the first inning.  Blake Langerud was hit by a pitch to start the game and was bunted to second by Jack Helgeson.  After a Joe Grote strikeout Matt Lane was walked and Ryan Archambault singled to load the bases with two outs.  Langerud then scored the only run of the game so far on a wild pitch.  Faribault had two more hits in the second and through three innings have two hits and have left 4 runners on base and two in scoring position.  Matt Stocker started the game and was breezing along until a walk to the first batter in the bottom of the third.  He collected his third strikeout of the game with the next batter and then the number nine hitter in the Sobieski lineup collected a single for the first hit of the game off Stocker.  That's where play will start again at 11am Monday.  Faribault and Sobieski will finish their semi-final and the winner will play New Ulm for the Class C State Championship.  New Ulm was down most of their game against Jordan in the other semi-final contest before winning 5-3 and spoiling Jordan's hopes of a state title in their home ballpark.  We'll have all Laker action Labor Day on POWER 96 Radio 95.9Fm and of course online at power96radio.com.  Remember you can download the free app Radio Pup and listen on your favorite mobile device. With these Lakers you can NEVER SAY IT'S OVER until the last out of the game is recorded.
