The University of Minnesota Extension Service and the Southern Research and Outreach Center will sponsor the annual Winter crops Day on Friday January 18, 2018. Winter Crops Day will be held at two locations next Friday with the program beginning at 9:00 am and wrapping up at 4:00 pm. The program will be held at the Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca and also at the Heintz Center in Rochester, 1926 Collegeview Drive East. Registration is $40 and you do not have to pre-register.

Scott Wells will discuss University of Minnesota Research on Establishing cover crops in corn and soybeans. Liz Stahl will present herbicide programs that allow for cover crops in corn and soybeans. Axel Garcia Y Garcia will discuss research results on the affect of cover crops on water use and nitrogen leaching in corn and soybeans. Dan Kaiser will discuss soil test potassium levels and how they can be used to determine how much more fertilizer to add. Finally Jeff Vetsch will summarize University of Minnesota trials that looked at how potassium fertilizer can affect corn and soybean production on different types of soils.
