Willie Nelson cut his Sunday night (Aug. 13) concert in Salt Lake City, Utah, short due to breathing troubles. In a tweet, Nelson later explained that the altitude had affected him, and that he is feeling better now.

Nelson was performing at Salt Lake City's USANA Amphitheatre on Sunday night when he left the stage and never came back, Billboard reports. Fans at the show shared on Twitter that the country legend was about half a dozen songs into his set when he "said he needed a break" but "never came back."

Around 1AM ET on Monday (Aug. 14), Nelson himself tweeted: "I am sorry to have to cut the SLC show short tonight. The altitude got to me. I am feeling better now & headed for lower ground." After leaving the USANA Amphitheatre stage, Nelson was reportedly taken to a local hospital.

Nelson has long been the subject of death hoaxes; on his most recent album, God's Problem Child, he sings a song called "Still Not Dead" as a reply of sorts to them.

“I got up two or three times in the last couple of years and read the paper where I’d passed away,” Nelson has said. “So I just wanted to let ’em know that’s a lot of horses–t.”

However, earlier this year, Nelson did cancel a string of tour dates due to an undisclosed illness. Rumors that he was in poor health began circulating, forcing his publicist to put out a statement refuting the reports. Nelson, now 84, has kept up with the majority of his touring obligations this year, even adding a surprise show at SXSW 2017 and playing a mid-March set at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in front of a 75,000-person crowd.

Nelson's next concert is scheduled for Tuesday (Aug. 15) in Saratoga, Calif. He has a number of dates on his calendar throughout the fall.
