Waterville Hopes to Start Another Winning Streak
The Waterville Indians started the season with a loss to Northfield on the road and then reeled off 30 wins before falling to Jordan in the Region 6 title game. The Indians face the Bluffton Braves in the second round of the Class C Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament in Maple Lake Saturday.
The game will be broadcast on KDHL, 920 AM, beginning 4:15 p.m. if it is on time. Waterville wants to get back to the way they were swinging the bat during that winning streak. In their 3-2 win last Sunday in Delano they had a handful of hits. Two of them from Faribault High School graduate Riley Schultz. The centerfielder hit the walkoff two run home run to send everyone from Waterville home with a smile on their face.
The Bluffton Braves are the Region 14 champions and rolled through their region without a single loss. The Braves are 15-3 going into the game while the Indians are 31-2.
Bluffton began playing amateur baseball in 1948. The same year KDHL Radio went on the air.
