Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Baseball Edges Medford
The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers and Medford Tigers hooked up in a terrific Gopher Conference baseball game in Waterville Thursday. The Bucs scored a 1-0 win despite Tiger sophomore Willie Von Ruden holding them to 2 hits. The run scored in the third inning on a wild pitch. Medford had 5 hits off junior Jayson Schneider. The only hits for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown were by sophomore Grant McBroom with a single in the bottom of the second and junior Bladyn Bartelt singled in the bottom of the third inning.
Courtesy runner junior Parker Bahnsen scored the Buccaneer run on a wild pitch after Bartelt singled to place Bahnsen at third base. Five different Tigers clubbed hits in the contest. Schneider threw 81 pitches , 49 for strikes, struck out 5, walked 2 and scattered 5 hits. Von Ruden threw 84 pitches, 48 strikes, fanned 8, walked 3. the run was earned.
Saturday Medford hosts New Life Academy in a doubleheader with the first game at 10:00 a.m.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is at Blue Earth Area for a game beginning 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
