It was in 2018 that the Zumbro River watershed received a planning grant from the MN Board of Water Resources (BWSR) for the One Watershed, one plan program. The major goal of this program is "to align local water planning on major watershed boundaries with state strategies toward prioritized, targeted and measurable implementation plans."

The purpose is to develop a watershed plan that is locally led through a policy committee made up of one elected official from each of the 13 Local Government units within the watershed. Three waterside chats have been scheduled to gain local knowledge from citizens that live, work and recreate in the watershed. All the watershed chats will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The first Watershed Chat will be held on Thursday October 24, 2019 in Mantorville in the Zumbro Valley Recreation club. The second on Thursday November 7, 2019 in Mazeppa in the Mazeppa Community center. The final one will be held on November 14, 2019 in Lake City at the Sportsman's Club. Light sandwiches and refreshments will be served. RSVP's are appreciated but not required. For more information email to pwservice@co.olmsted.mn.us or call 507-328-7070.
