On Friday, August 11, the Minnesota Farmers Union will be sponsoring a Water Quality and Healthy Soils Field Day in Oronoco. The program will begin at People's Energy Cooperative at 9AM. There will be speakers in the morning including Rod Sommerfield, a farmer; President of the Minnesota Farmers Union Gary Wertish; Matt Wohlman, Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture; and Anna Henderson from Gov. Mark Dayton's office.

Lunch will be served at the People's Energy Cooperative and then the group will travel to the Rod Sommerfield farm south of Mazeppa on Wabasha County Road 1 for a tour. The Minnesota Farmers Union will have transportation from Oronoco to the Sommerfield farm (only 3.8 miles) and back or participants can drive on their own.
